Dr. Widmer, formerly Dr. McCartney, is originally from the Triangle area of North Carolina and is a board-certified adult neurologist with specialization in movement disorders. She received her BS in Biochemistry from Arizona State University, before completing her MD at UNC Chapel Hill. Dr. Widmer subsequently completed both her Neurology Residency and Movement Disorders Fellowship at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. After completing her training, she practiced as a general neurologist and movement disorder specialist for several years, in first the Rochester, NY area then outside of Charlotte, NC.
Dr. Widmer joins Raleigh Neurology in 2025 to continue caring for both common adult neurologic conditions and movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, cervical dystonia, and other tremor disorders. Dr. Widmer offers not only her clinical expertise, but also botulinum toxin injections for the treatment of movement disorders and migraine as well as additional diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the North Carolina Neurological Society, and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.
