Neurodiagnostics

Neurodiagnostics analyzes and monitors nervous system function to promote the effective treatment of neurological diseases and conditions such as epilepsy or neuropathy. The Neurodiagnostic Lab at Raleigh Neurology Associates provides the latest technology and procedures for diagnosing conditions of the central and peripheral nervous system.

Our team of neurodiagnostics technologists record electrical activity arising from the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves using a variety of techniques and instruments. These tests include:

• Nerve conduction studies (NCS)
• Electromyography (EMG)
• Electroencephalography (EEG)
• Videonystagmography (VNG)
• Audiology testing

These procedures may last from 20 minutes for a single nerve conduction study to 48 hours for an ambulatory EEG.

Our neurodiagnostic technologists have extensive expertise in neurophysiology and can recognize normal and abnormal electrical activity. After the study results are reviewed and interpreted by our neurologists.

How to Refer a Patient:

Neurodiagnostic procedures may require a referral from a pediatrician/primary care physician. We request any background and pertinent office notes in order to provide the most meaningful, effective initial consultation or testing possible for all our patients. Once a patient has been evaluated, our assessment will be sent to the referring provider for their records and any additional follow- up.
